Northernmost Paradise of Goa

Goa is synonymous to many things that are indicative of a life without worries and carefree measures. Although it is one of the smallest states in India, it offers variety of beaches to suit any holiday style whether the priority is relaxation, partying or experiencing culture; Goa has beaches to satisfy all visitors.

All beaches have their own distinctiveness and beauty. So I am going to give you a complete guide to travel northernmost part of Goa. It includes Arambol beach, Mandrem beach, Morjim beach, Querim beach, Kalacha beach, Sweet Water lake, Tiracol Fort, Alorna Fort. 

Begin your trip from Arambol beach as many accommodations are available at affordable rate like guesthouses, hostels, hotels etc. Now the question is “How to reach Arambol beach?” From Vasco De Gama railway station, walk straight out from the exit and follow the road to the end, pass parked private buses and on right will be a bus stand with local buses to Panji at Rs.37.From Panji bus station, catch local bus to Mapusa at Rs.15 and from there ask for the bus to Arambol at Rs 30. It will drop you off in front of HDFC bank ATM. Rickshaws are rarely seen. Arambol is located approx. two hour drive from the Dabolim Airport and it will cost you around Rs 1500 to 2500.

Once you reach Arambol beach, you can find your suitable accommodation. Rent for guesthouse begins from Rs 500 per person per night, Rs 200 for hostels and Rs 700 for beach huts. Scooters or Bikes can rented from nearly every guesthouse or from taxi guys who hang around street corner and beach parking lot. Scooty or Bike is the best way to hang around as you can spot any number of places you want and it will cost you around Rs 150 to 300 per day(bikes prices range from Rs 400 – 800 per day) excluding petrol expenses. You have to fill petrol yourself in vehicle. Cars can also be rented at cost of Rs 1000 to 2000. Local Buses are also available but they will not drop you at exact place.

Arambol Beach🏄-

Famous for - Soft white sand and clear water, perfect for sun bathing and swimming, music at beach shacks, visit Arambol mountain
Adventures-
1) Paragliding- Rs. 2000 for duration of 10 minutes
2) Surfing – Rs. 50 per board ( Best time -June) 
Shopping-Near drum circle foreign vendors sells unique handmade items, but price is certainly high.


Mandrem Beach 🌼(2.9 km from Arambol beach)-   
Holiday style - Nature lover, Relaxing
Famous for- Beautiful deserted beach, white-bellied fish eagles, Olive Ridley Turtle nest (rarely), spend time by clicking photos
Nearby places- Church of Our Lady of the Rosary (1.4 km from Mandrem beach), Shri Bhagavati Temple (13 km from Mandrem beach)


Morjim Beach 🏊(8.1 km from Mandrem beach)-
Holiday style - Adventurous, Nature lover
Famous for –  Known as “Little Russia”, Olive Ridley Sea Turtle nesting, come to relax
Adventures- Dolphin watching by local fishermen and other vendors, Cruise, Occasional Houseboat
Shopping- More Russian stuff



Kalacha Beach🌼 (1.2 km from Arambol beach) –

Holiday style - Nature lover, Relaxation
Famous for- Sweet water Lagoon 
Adventure- Paragliding, hand-gliding
Buy- Few beach Shacks for food, stalls along the path selling handicrafts, music cds etc


Sweet Water Lagoon 🌼(At Kalacha beach) -
Holiday style - Relaxation
Description - It is fresh water paradise that originate from in natural hot springs. Dip your feet in fresh warm water, feel the heat of sand and rub your body with clay. Take meditation under great Banyan tree for inner peace. If you want to stay dry, spend time by capturing photos. 


Querim Beach 🌼(10 km from Kalach beach)
Holiday style - Relaxation, experiencing culture
Famous for - known as Keri beach, sunny haven of sand, sea and scenerity, Great picnic spot
Nearby places- Turquoise and white Ajoba Temple, Terekhol Fort (2.5 km from Querim beach)
Food – some Beach shack offer delicious food


Tiracol Fort 🏰(2.1 km from Querim beach)-

Description - Known as Terechol fort, located at Pernem at the mouth of Tiracol river, originally built by Maharaja Khem Sawant  Bhonsle, but now it a heritage hotel, Church of Holy Trinity in courtyard
How to reach - 
Hire a vehicle or Public transport (Rickshaws, buses, taxies, trains)
Jetty at Querim beach between 6:30 am to 9:30 pm
Packages - check in- 2:00 pm, check out- 12:00 pm, price- Rs 6500 to 18,500


Alorna Fort 🏰(32.9 km from Arambol beach)-
Holiday style - Historical exploration
Description - Known as Halarn fort, Built by Bhonsles of Sawantwadi, has 4 guns, presently in dilapidated condition, Beautiful site to explore as it is perched on bank of chapora river
How to reach - 
Hire a vehicle or Public transport (Rickshaws, buses, taxies)
Nearest railway station- Thivim or Margo(recommended)
